| About Dunchurch - the historical village of Dunchurch is one of the many villages which surround Rugby town in the Warwickshire county of England. Dunchurch has buildings dating back to the 15th centuary, which are now part of a conservation area - one such building in Dunchurch is "Guy Fawkes House", where it is reported that the "gunpowder plotters" had stayed around 1605. The A45 road which passed through the centre of Dunchurch (now the B4429) was for many centuries an important staging post for the coaches running from London to Holyhead - in these early days Dunchurch was of greater significance than the town of Rugby itself - this role was reversed however with the advent of the railway which succeeded the old stagecoaches. Distances to other towns from Dunchurch are .... Rugby Town 4.5km : Coventry 17km : Leamington Spa 17.5km : Northampton 28.5km Just 3km from Dunchurch is Draycote Water a 650 acre reservoir (made in the 1960s) - which is home to a sailing club - hosting many various water sports, all year round. |
